For one thing, when I tried to register for an account, the site told me that my username and email were already in use. As I’d never even heard of – far less registered with – Shanghai Slots before today I couldn’t see how my details could be in their system stalling my efforts to spin.

Evidently this is a sister site of one or more casinos with which I have an account, and that might account (sorry) for the problem, but surely if this is a stand-alone casino site that shouldn’t happen, or if it does, then shouldn’t my account be interchangeable between the sister sites?

Anyway, in an effort to give you my unbiased impressions of Shanghai Spins I registered with some alternative details and plunged into the fray.

Shanghai Spins slots games.

There are some great games on the site, and some good bonuses too. I got a £25 bonus with my first deposit, along with 50 free spins on the Lion Dance slot (which is a pretty good game by the way – try it if you see it).

Sadly, the site is plagued by little issues, such as being unable to open certain games or getting error messages when trying to open others.

Links are poor, meaning that you have to pay attention when trying to navigate the site, as the buttons sometimes bear little relation to the graphics that house them.

There are some great games, both old favourites and some newer ones that deserve a good look, as well as table games and a few casino type games, but this is (as the name implies) a site that’s mostly about the slots.

Shanghai Spins features.

One nice little touch: below each game is a line of plain text that tells you your balance, your bet, your win and most importantly the net value – or loss – of each win (so the win, minus the cost of the game). Nothing you can’t work out for yourself, but when some games work on coins, some on points and some in cash terms it’s nice to have a clear and unequivocal summary of what that little ‘bank-stretcher’ win is really worth to you.

There are a lot of sites out there offering slots and bonuses, loyalty points and neat little extras. Shanghai Spins is just one of them, and it’s not a bad one, it just needs to maybe iron out a few little niggles before it makes my top 10.
